New Account Locks
Everywhere I go people are wanting to be rushed everywhere. This in itself is not a bad thing. But when people start asking to be taken to areas they have barely even heard of let alone know the location of, this is a problem. Players brand new to the game should not be able to rush.
For new accounts, lock the following areas until the specified mission is completed:
Ascalon Foothills locked until Nolani Academy is completed.
Lornar's Pass locked until Dragon's Lair is completed.
Majesty's Rest locked until Divinity Coast is completed.
Tears of the Fallen locked until Aurora Glade is completed.
Ice Floe locked until Iron Mines of Moladune is completed.
If any member of a party has not unlocked these areas, that area will be locked to all. Throw up boulders, piles of snow, whatever, just lock these areas.
I have no problem with people rushing. However I do have a problem with people brand new to the game wanting someone to rush them all the way through it without playing or learning anything in the meantime. We don't need more bad clueless players in the later missions.
Once an area has been unlocked, it will be unlocked for all current and future characters on that account so that in the future they can rush all they want. But for the first time through the game, please actually play it.

Yes i also find that annoying that people are tempting others to TOTALY go void of the story line! It just makes no sense, going straight from Rurik dieng to helping the Shining Blade of whom youve never even heard of. Some people i talked to didnt even KNOW they werent supposed to go those wrong ways. I know feel sorry for all those that missed out on the storyline and are now very confused in their game

As opposed to those folks who followed the storyline...

yeh good point, it does move a little too fast.... ok WAY too fast... but it'd still be more confusing for those that missed it.

You know its against the forum rules to give short ass replies like that, just to remind you
I really do like this idea, it makes no sense to have completely new people running about in missions they don't following understand.
Take for example I was doing Alora Glade understand when someone in local chat asked... who are White Mantal? After messaging him ask what he meant, seems a mate of his rushed his character there, and he hasn't done ANY of the missions at all... bless he was only lvl10!
I told him to return to Ascalon and head for the Northern Wall to begin the mission there to follow the story line.
An hour later I got a message from him saying thanks, he was at Piken's Square doing quests...
This idea is a would be a great implementation, that should be in place for at least the next expansion since it seems stupid for people to have no clue where they are, or what they are doing!

This is by far the best idea in the full game.
I mean, come on! who'd want to help a level 3 get to Thunderhead keep, because he/she/it cannot be arsed to complete the storyline at least ONCE?
To further improve it, if people complete areas and missions, or towns, it should be UNLOCKED for other characters on that account to use, BUT restrict it until all of the mission on that area is complete for that character (This'll make it impossible for level 3s to enter Yak's Bend or King's Watch until ALL of those missions are complete for that character in Ascalon, as an example)

yes it is Kelly... If only mine and Lost(the founder of this thread)'s post was used by ANet to improve gaming there... hey, maybe it'll curb the noobs off the game altogether!

In which way can it hurt you? I mean, if there was a problem I would mind. If not, why bother? If people want to miss all the good in PvE, let them do.
If they know they are skipping the missions, then let them screw their own whole experience

Yep... and the funny thing is that no one at that level could possibly beat their Mirror Self... you need to be at least lvl15+ to take that damn thing on.

I don't share you statement, it upsetting to see so many newbies who have no idea where they are or what they meant to be doing. Its like me picking you up and dropping you in a unknown country with nothing but the clothes on your back and seeing how you get on.

If you mean there should be a system to avoid (or guide) unaware newbies to the "right" path, then I agree.
But if they skip the missions on purpose, let them, they are (or should) be smart enough to know they are playing a story-based game in PvE. At least, if you read the manual you are told part of that story already, even without installing the game!

Wrong I see a video where a lvl 3 ranger avoids all the arrows and wins...
About the thread idea, I am against it. Because it doesn't hurt anyone if I'am level 3 at Droknar. It's my problem if I can't find a group because of my level...
The only problem I see is about pvp in the low level arenas with the 1.5k armor. But this can easily solved by putting a level requirement on these armors.

It's not the character level I care about, it's the experience of the player. New players who skip the game lack the knowhow to be an effective member of a party. I don't want clueless players in my groups on the later missions. I don't want to have to hand out questionaires to make sure everyone in the party knows how to play the game before we enter the mission.

Well, since ascension now doesn't gives you lvl20 anymore, try not to pick lets say, anyone who has less than level 17 or so in the desert. Being less than that could probably mean they have rushed.

What about those that don't want to do the missions? A friend an I traversed the entire northern half of the map and the southern shiverpeaks without doing a single mission. It was by far the most fun and challenging experience I've had in Guild Wars' PvE to date. The game already puts enough artifical restritions on explorers without introducing more.

Lost,
While I wholeheartedly agree with you, ANet can't control anyone's experience. If someone spends $50 on this game and opts not to do any quests and rushes the game, that is their perrogative.
Most rushers are people who have finished the game with at least one character and don't want to have to play through the game again (though I'm sure they missed a lot of stuff) to unlock their skills. Hopefully a completely new player to GW won't want the "rushes" offered, nor will they have the cash to pay for it.

The storyline isn't anything special and confused the crap out of me. I wouldn't recommend rushing to the forge without playing through the storyline, but then I honestly wouldn't recommend tracking the storyline to all but the worst of my enemies.
